Finnish blackened death metal band Proscription unleashes their full-length debut album, “Conduit” through Dark Descent Records on September 24th, 2020.
As usual, when it comes to Finnish bands, the band members seem to be in many other more or less known bands, so is the case here, but I skip the name dropping this time, simply because of that the other bands that the members are in is no bands that I know.
So, off to the music, Proscription is playing death metal with black metal stains in. “Conduit” sounds a little like how Behemoth sound when they are a little less death metal and the black metal history can be heard, not thinking about any of the later albums, nor the early ones.
This is actually a quite good album, with lots of nice guitar riffs, heavy parts and also quite fast and brutal here and there. There is no question about that Proscription knows what they are doing here. It is a really good balance between heavy and brutal, but also a little melodic.
The vocals are growl most of the time and it suits the music on “Conduit” really well. The melodies that lay over the brutal and aggressive sound make it interesting to listen and the guitars riffs and the nice hooks and turns in the music are also great. There is a nice dark feeling all over the album and that fact is even one more thing that makes it interesting.

Proscription - Conduit
Proscription, and their full-length album, “Conduit” is for you who want some black metal in your death metal, not that it is much, blackened death metal describe the album and the sound really well.
To find a song that stands out on this record is a little hard, but I would go for “Red Sacrament Black Communion”, really like the guitars in that song together with the growl vocals.
Would I buy this album?
Not sure, there are so much albums on my “want list” at the moment and the record budget is limited. But, maybe.
