Kryptamok, another Finnish black metal band, or solo project would be a more correct description. This album, “Verisaarna” is the full-length debut, released during spring 2020 through Purity Through Fire.
For some reason Purity Through Fire manage to dig up new and interesting black metal bands, quite many of the bands are from Finland.
Kryptamok, is a one-man-band where Hex Inferi is doing everything. But, you may know him from the well-known band Horna where he played bass. He has also played in some other bands from the late ´90s and later. It seems like it’s more a rule rather than an exception that members of black metal bands are in or used to be in other bands.
This is melodic and quite typical Finnish black metal. The music is kind of raw and quite primitive, but yet melodic. In some ways, the songs are quite an old-school sounding, with really nice guitars and lots of atmosphere from the keyboards, and as often when it comes to black metal from Scandinavia, it has elements of folk music, or traditional.
The lyrics are in Finnish, the vocals are quite raw and harsh, but sung in a melodic way. There are songs that are quite fast, like the opening track “Loputon, totaalinen sota” and also the last song, the title track “Verisaarna“.

- Apokalypsin epilooki [04:38]

Highlights, or favorite tracks are the first song “Loputon, totaalinen sota” and the last, “Verisaarna“, closely followed by the songs “Apokalypsin epilooki” and “Saastan rekviemi“.
