Eisenkult – …gedenken wir der Fisnternis

Eisenkult, another german black metal band from the record label Purity Through Fire. This band features drummer from my favorite German black metal band, Totenwache, and members from the bands Mavorim and Meuchelmord.

This is a band that I never heard about before, but this album “…gedenken wir der Fisnternis” is the debut album so that can be the reason.

This album has it’s highlights, and that is when they “just” play black metal. But there is an intro and outro on this record that is almost annoying, the synths, or organ/piano does not fit in the record, same with the track “Interlude“, and the beginning of the track “Gedenken wir der Finsternis“. If they just could have left that out, then this would be a more solid record.

Don’t get me wrong here, I like when bands try something different, thinking a little outside the box, but then it should be for the fact to add something to the music that makes it interesting, not annoying.

Maybe it’s just me, who are “close-minded”, but when it comes to black metal I don´t think that you should invite too much piano, synths, keyboards, organs and so on to the music, then it gets lost along the way and it “is” not black metal anymore.

Eisenkult, and the debut album “…gedenken wir der Fisnternis” is probaly not a band or album that I will listen to much more, it has it highlights, like the tracks “Stahlross”, “Deprecatio”, “Auf schwarzen Schwingen” and “Ein endloses Nichts”.

Would I bu this record?
Don´t think so, maybe if I could carve the Intro and Outro out of the record….
